Let There Be Light / Gen. 1:3
"Immortal and divine Mind presents the idea of God: first, in light; second, in reflection; third, in spiritual and immortal forms of beauty and goodness. But this Mind creates no element nor symbol of discord and decay. God creates neither erring thought, mortal life, mutable truth, nor variable love" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. p. 503:20-25).
"Creation is ever appearing, and must ever continue to appear from the nature of its inexhaustible source" (ibid 507:28–29).
I think of God in terms of qualities, and not as a person. When I think of God as these qualities, or synonyms, it helps me understand His/Her infinitude and ever-presence.
Synonyms for God: Mind, Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth, Love, Principle. If you look closely enough, you'll see in my painting these 7 synonyms for God written out (and fractured up to create a stained-glass effect.) They radiate out from a 7 pointed star that appears often in Mary Baker Eddy's significant book, Christ and Christmas.
This painting was inspired by the first illustration in Christ and Christmas. I hope it brings joy, light, and inspiration to you and your loved ones.
